The Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Honourable Sarah Adwoa Safo has failed to appear before the Privileges Committee to explain her extended absence from Parliament of Ghana.
The Parliament of Ghana’s Privileges Committee said, Hon. Sara Adwoa Safo was scheduled to appear before the Committee but has failed to appear, despite various attempts to get her to appear before the Committee.
A Zoom link was provided to Sara Adwoa Safo to join proceedings but the MP failed to appear despite several attempts made by the Committee.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin had tasked the Privileges Committee of Parliament to engage MPs Adwoa Safo, Kennedy Agyapong and Henry Quartey over complaints of absenteeism brought against them.
The three (3) Members of Parliament are expected to explain their absence, failing which actions may be taken to remove them from Parliament.
Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey have appeared before the Privileges Committee, to respond to queries on his absence from Parliament without permission for fifteen sitting days in the First Meeting of the Second Session of the 8th Parliament. He explained that his absence from the country was to enable him to undergo a knee surgery.
Two other Members of Parliament, Hon Kennedy Agyapong and Hon. Sara Adwoa Safo were also referred to the Committee for similar reasons. Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has already appeared before the Committee.
