Renowned investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has contributed to the trending issue of news of a building demolished by armed men in the premises of the Nigeria High Commission in Ghana.
In the past few days, there have several media reports of how armed men stormed the Nigerian High Commissioner’s’ residence in Accra on Friday night (19th June,2020) with bulldozers and demolished a story building apartment on the property.
In his comment, Manasseh Azure Awuni indicated that the act is shameful and the Government of Ghana must render an unqualified apology to Nigerians for the act. He asked why we have to do this to the Nigeria High Commission as we cannot do same to the Americans or British.
Below are the exact words of Mr. Manasseh Azure Awuni
“why we have to do this to the Nigeria High Commission because we cannot do this to the Americans or British? Why should we do it to the Nigerians? And we’ll turn around and say others are looking down on us because we’re black. How do we treat one another here? This is shameful, and the government should render an unqualified apology to Nigerians. Even if there’s a problem, is this how to solve it? President Akufo-Addo must be ashamed of the lawlessness under his watch. The impunity is now wearing a five-piece suit and will soon contest for space at the presidency if it’s not stopped.”
