Akufo-Addo paid over Gh¢30 Million debt of Mahama’s Progressively Free SHS – Education Minister

The Minister of Education Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has revealed that, his Ministry, by the help of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid a debt of thirty million, one hundred and twenty thousand, five hundred and fifty-two Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 30,120,552.00) left behind by the former Education Minister Professor Naana Jane Oppoku-Agyemang during John Dramani Mahama’s NDC government.

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh further said, the arrears left behind by the NDC under the Progressively Free SHS Policy covers the 2015/2016 academic year when the programme commenced with only day students.

The Education Minister again said, nothing at all was paid by the National Democratic Congress in respect of the 120,000 boarding students to be catered for under the high-sounding Progressively Free programme in the 2016/17 academic year.
