Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is dead

News coming in has confirmed that, the popular boxer who became longest-reigning Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is reported dead.

The Palace of Oyo has confirmed the death of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi in a press statement.

In a statement, it has been confirmed by the Palace that, the sadden demise of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi passed on at age 83 on Friday, 22nd April, 2022 in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital following a short illness.

Alaafin of Oyo, who succeeded Oba Gbadegesin Ladigbolu I at the governorship of Colonel Robert Adeyinka Adebayo, after the civil war has joined the ancestors.

Oba Lamidi Adeyemi spokesperson Mr Bode Durojaye explained that, the details of his death will be disclosed at the time.

According to the spokesperson, before the sad news, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi was receiving treatment at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.

The traditional ruler, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi’s body is believed to have been brought back to Oyo Immediately the death occured.
