The Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh says all salary arrears owed teachers by Government will be paid in the first week of December graphic.com.gh reports.

Speaking to a group of teachers in Akropong-Akwapim in the Eastern Region Yesterday, 26th November, 2020, the Minister in charge of Education in the country revealed that all salary areas owed Teachers will be paid in the first week of the coming month.

According to Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Allowance of teachers have been settled with their November 2020 salary payment without any tax deductions.

The Minister of Education said “We have spoken to the Finance Ministry and no taxes will be deducted from the allowances so if you go to the bank and there is tax deduction alert us for refund”.

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh also added the Nana Akufo-Addo led Government is very mindful of the crucial role teachers’ play and will continue implement policies that inure to benefits of Teachers.

He said: “the government mindful of the role of teacher has abolished all insensitive practices that were in the best interest of teacher.

Dr. Prempeh also indicated that the insensitive policy where teachers work for many months but they are paid for only three months is no more because it was in bad taste for teachers.

“That insensitive three months allowance policy is no more because it was in bad taste for teachers.’’ Dr. Mathew Prempeh added.
