Nogokpo signpost and Archbishop Charles Agyinasare
The derogatory statement made by Archbishop Charles Agyinasare has traveled down the nerves of the natives of Nogokpo to the extent that the Chiefs have warned Archbishop Charles Agyinasare to appear before them after 14 days if not he will be used as an scapegoat to prove the potency of our gods.
A Lecturer and elder of Nogokpo by name Mawufermor Korbla Noryibey at the Amuawo Development Institute told Accra-based Angel FM in an interview that “if he does not heed our calls on doing the right thing, we will show him that the religion that was introduced to him by the Whiteman is nothing compared to their gods.”
His comment came after the Chiefs of his Nogokpo organised a press conference to address the comment “Nogokpo is the demonic headquarters of the Volta Region.”
He (the Lecturer and elder of Nogokpo), Mawufermor Korbla Noryibey at the Amuawo Development Institute furthur said in the interview that
“On Sunday, he said he has married our sister and they have children. You cannot look into the eyes of your inlaws and insult them like he did. Moreover, he did not show respect to his wife, so we think he disrespects us.”
“Have you ever seen people in the African Traditional Religion insult other religions? No, we don’t do that. But when Christians have the least opportunity, they want to disrespect us. If Agyinasare does not come to do the needful, we will use him as a scapegoat.”
“We want him to come and show us why Nogokpo is the demonic headquarters. He should come and explain to us physically and spiritually why he said that in the first place. At this point, an apology alone is not enough.”
At the press conference, the Chiefs of Nogokpo announced that the founder of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare has been given a 14-day ultimatum to appear before the traditional heads of Nogokpo for a peaceful talk in order to resolve the matter.
In addition, since the Chiefs of Nogokpo do not want to act without following the due procedure in the country, they appealed to the office of the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ketu South Municipal Assembly, Some Traditional Council, BNI, IGP, and National Security to bring Archbishop Charles Agyinasare and the likes to book for a peaceful talk.
They also added that failure on the side of Archbishop Charles Agyinasare to respond to their amicable call for the matter to rest will compel them to advise themselves.
