Attorney General directs Police to investigate Adisadel College assault and arraign suspects

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame has directed the Police Service to investigate the Adisadel College assault and arraign suspects who were involved in the disturbing assault case in the school.

According to sources close to the Attorney General’s office, he has directed the Police in the Central Region to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and arraign the suspect before Friday.

The assault came to public attention through a viral video circulating online showing one student violently attacking another by locking his arms and repeatedly hitting his face against a metal bed.

The victim suffered profuse bleeding below his right eye sparking outrage and concern among parents, students, and the general public.

A statement allegedly from the headmaster conveyed through the chairman of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the school revealed that the incident occurred on June 30, 2023. However, both the perpetrator and the victim initially concealed the incident from the authorities.

As a consequence of their actions, both of the culprits responsible for the assault and the victim have been sent home. The victim is expected to write his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) from the school, while the suspect will take the exam at the WAEC center.

In addition to the primary individuals involved, the student who recorded the distressing incident has also faced consequences for his role. He has been subjected to a one-week external suspension.
