Bawumia supports digitisation of the Ghana Police in the fights against crime with devices worth $2 million.

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has supported the digitisation of the Ghana Police Service in the fight against crime with devices worth $2 million.

In a statement made by Dr. Bawumia on 23rd December 2022, he said
“I presented over $2 million worth of mobile identification devices and a Mobile Device Management System to the Ghana Police Service donated by the Margins Group, an indigenous Ghanaian Identity Systems Company.”

He explained that the mobile devices and systems will capture the unique biometric and biographic information of individuals, verify vehicle registration, driver’s license, roadworthiness certificate, and insurance, and match the data against other databases including the National Identification Authority’s database.

Finally, he added that the devices will give police officers real-time access to data on individuals, vehicles, criminal histories, etc., and therefore help in the fight against crime.
