Dr Francis Kwaw Andoh is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Economics, at the University of Cape Coast, with about 13 years of experience in teaching and economic research.

He holds PhD in Economics (with specialisation in Public Sector Economics and Health Economics) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Dr Andoh’s research focuses on cross-cutting issues at the intersection of Public Sector Economics, Health Economics and Development Economics.

In the last decade, he has examined and or provided policy advice on critical national and international issues including tax gaps, tax revenue productivity, tax compliance cost, subsidies, public spending and public debt, energy consumption, healthcare financing, COVID-19, health sector skills strategy, health systems and maternal health.

In 2019, Dr Andoh was a visiting scholar at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), USA, where he led research on the welfare implications of Ghana’s value-added tax regime.

Currently, Dr Andoh is working on the economic cost and implications of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Africa.

He is also investigating the effectiveness of ecological fiscal policies in sustainable fisheries and aquaculture in Ghana, Indonesia and Vietnam.

He has presented several academic papers abroad, including in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Japan, Mauritius, Kenya, Ethiopia and South Africa

Dr. Francis Kwaw Andoh’s Leadership/Positions

• Dr Andoh has held several positions. He has been involved in students’ affairs for the past 5 years, serving as a Hall Tutor.

• Currently, he is the Senior Hall Tutor at Atlantic Hall, University of Cape Coast.

• He is also an academic counsellor for Foreign Students in the School of Economics, and the School of Economics representative on the School of Business Board.

• He had previously served as Departmental and Faculty Registration and Examinations Officer for more than 6 years and doubled as the Academic Quality Officer for the Department of Applied Economics.

• He is the immediate past School of Economics representative on the UCC Time Table Committee.

• Dr Andoh serves as an external examiner for a number of universities in Ghana and abroad.

• He is currently a member of the Team of Experts that reviews the Master and PhD Macroeconomics curriculum for the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC).

• He is a reviewer for several academic peer review journals.

• He has consulted for several international organisations including the International Labour Organization (ILO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Copenhagen Consensus Centre (USA), Solidaridad West Africa (The Netherlands), and SNV (The Netherland Development Organisation).

• He is currently a member of the International Institute of Public Finance (IIPF), Germany, a network member of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), Kenya; and the Australia-Africa Universities Network (AAUN) on Economic Development, Health and Nutrition, Australia.
