Bono Regional Director of Education sacks two headmasters over unauthorized charging of fees

Mr. Gabriel Antwi, Regional Director of Education, Bono Region has asked two (2) headmasters under his jurisdiction of work to step side due to unauthorized charging of fees.

The Regional Director for Bono Region disclosed that it has come to the notice of the Management of Ghana Education Service that, Mr. Afi Yaw Stephen (Headmaster for Berekum Senior High School) and Mr. Joseph Jilinjeh Abudu (Headmaster for Odomaseman Senior High School Sunyani) are charging reporting Form One students unauthorized fees.

The involved headmasters are requested to step aside as with effect from 7th December, 2023 for further investigation to be conducted into the matter.

“Kindly hand over to the Berekum Municipal Director of Education, in the interim, who will take oversight responsibility of the school for the period of your absence” Bono Regional Director of Education instructs.

According to the Regional Director, Mr. Afi Yaw Stephen, Headmaster for Berekum Senior High School has championed the charging of the following:

1. Entrance Fee – GHC 40.00
2. PTA Fee – GHC 300.00
3. Petrol – GHC 20.00
4. Borla Fee – GHC 20.00
5. Motivation Fee – GHC 50.00
6. Lunch Bag – GHC 50.00
7. School Jacket – GHC 200.00
8. House dues – GHC 50.00
9. Registration Fees – GHC80.00
10. SRC Dues – GHC 50.00

Mr. Joseph Jilinjeh Abudu, Headmaster for Odomaseman Senior High School Sunyani has been called out for charging the following:

1. Enrollment fee – GHC 25.00
2. SRC – GHC 200.00
3. Calculator/Maths Set/Graph – GHC 180.00
4. Hymn Book – GHC 45.00
5. Brown Khaki – GHC 70.00
6. 3 White Shirts for Male – GHC 150.00
7. House Dues – GHC 150.00
8. House Jersey – GHC40.00
9. Socks – GHC 16.00
10. File – GHC 5.00
11. Cheque for Ladies – GHC 80.00
12. Embossment of items – GHC 25.00
