The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) has awarded a lucrative contract to Eskew Ventures, a reputable technology supplier based in Kaneshie.

The contract involves the purchase of 18 iPhone 13 mobile phones, which will be allocated to the esteemed Board Members and General Managers of BOST.

The total value of the contract is an astounding GH¢285,412.61 million CEDIS, indicating that each iPhone 13 will cost approximately GH¢15,000 plus..

The decision to award the contract on a single-source basis was justified by BOST under section 40 (1)d of the Standardization/Compatibility/Limited Size clause.

This clause allows for a streamlined procurement process when standardization, compatibility, or limited size considerations are paramount.

The approval for the contract was granted by the Evaluation and Tender Committee of the Public Procurement Authority (ETC/PPA).

The contract, identified as GR/BOST/GD/003/2022, was officially signed on May 16, 2022.

According to the terms of the agreement, Eskew Ventures is required to deliver the 18 iPhone 13 devices by May 30, 2022. The entire transaction will be carried out in Ghana Cedis, the official currency of the country.

The decision to purchase iPhones for Board Members and General Managers has garnered attention from various stakeholders. Some have raised concerns about the cost of the devices, given the significant amount being allocated for this purpose.

However, proponents argue that the decision is justified by the need for standardization and compatibility among the executives, as well as the limited size of the procurement.
