The Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) has issued a stern warning to all government workers in Ghana regarding a purported phone application known as E-payslip. According to CAGD, this app contains their logo and is being used by fraudsters to steal personal and financial information from unsuspecting government workers, including teachers, nurses, and other employees.

Also, CAGD has clarified that it is not aware of any such official E-payslip app and has urged government workers not to install or attempt to enter their credentials into the app with the intention of accessing their payslip.

The fraudulent app is designed to hijack phones and steal mobile money and bank transaction PIN codes, allowing fraudsters to withdraw money from users’ accounts.

The purported E-payslip app is reported to have a green and black label after installation, and CAGD has advised government workers to be cautious and not install any app with such characteristics claiming to be their official payslip app. Furthermore, CAGD has highlighted that the app cannot be uninstalled once it is installed, and those who have already installed it on their phones are urged to reset their phones to factory settings to remove the app and protect their information.

CAGD has taken this issue seriously and is working diligently to investigate and address the fraudulent app. They have urged all government workers to remain vigilant, exercise caution, and only access official government apps and websites for their payroll-related information. CAGD has also assured government workers that they will be duly informed if there are any official changes to the payslip system.

Government is cautioning  it’s workers in Ghana to be wary of the fraudulent E-payslip app and refrain from installing or using it. It is important to follow official channels for accessing payslip and payroll-related information, and report any suspicious apps or activities to the relevant authorities.

By staying vigilant and cautious, government workers can protect their personal and financial information from falling into the hands of fraudsters.
