The prices of cement has been increased by 5 Ghana cedis across the country.
The Chamber of Cement Manufacturers, Ghana (COCMAG) made the public aware of their new cement pricing.
According to sources, from March 11, 2022, the new price of a cement bag (50kg) will be increased by 5 per cent.
Counter confirming the increasement, Bridget Otoo of Metro TV has disclosed that, cement prices have been increased by 5 cedis. This means, you will get cement selling in Accra between GH¢55 to GH¢57 and outside of accra – GH¢56 to GH¢60 cedis.
The increment of cement price is attributed to a lot of factors including the recent Russia-Ukraine brawl, depreciation of the cedi, importation of cement manufacturing materials and increase in construction.
The impart of the high price will affect housing projects, transportation fares, the general cost of building, movement of logistics both inside and outside the country, including the small scale businesses.
When much focus is laid on the causes of the increment then the ordinary Ghanaian can build an affordable house in other to be free from the shackles of Landlords and caretakers.
