Central Tongu MP support Free Eye Screening, Treatment, Cataract Surgery & issue of Medicated Glasses for Constituents


Lifetime Wells Vision, a Ghanaian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Accra, in collaboration with Friends Eye Centre Tamale, under the auspices of the Central Tongu Member of Parliament Honorable Alexander Gabby Resoovet Hottordze will be undertaking Free Medical Outreach which will involve screening of eye related conditions and minor surgeries for conditions that will require such interventions.

The Team will be led by Dr. Seth Wanye, a very experienced Ophthalmologist with several years of experience in leading outreach teams to the most deprived areas of rural Ghana.

The Central Tongu Lawmaker has volunteerily released Fund to support the Free Eye Screening, Treatment, issue of Medicated Glasses and Cataract Surgery for his Constituents during the exercise.

According to the Member of Parliament, aside the cost of medical screening and medications, feeding and accommodation for the team over the period will be borne by him.

The MP disclosed to Coverghana.com.gh that, the purpose of the exercise is to minimize blindness among his constituents through treatment, issue of glasses at subsidized cost and offer free surgery if the need be.

In a letter signed by the Volta Regional Project Coordinator Claver Kofi Lawson to the Central Tongu District Director of Ghana Health Services notifying the Directorate of the upcoming exercise said, the programme is expected to begin with eye screening on Friday 7th May, 2021.

The Exercise will be carried out in the five (5) major zones in the Central Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region. These are Afego, Avedo, Adidome, Mafi-Kumase and Kpedzeglo Zones within four (4) days, from 7th to 10th May, 2021.

Those who will be booked for surgery will be seen by the Specialists among the team at the Adidome District Hospital. As many as fifty (50) cases will be worked on a day until all who happen to be booked for surgery are seen and duly attended to.

7th May, 2021, Mafi-Devime Presbyterian Church Chapel, Afego Zone – TEAM A

7th May, 2021, Bakpa-Avedo Roman Catholic Church,  Avedo Zone – TEAM B.

8th May, 2021, Adidome Old District Assembly,  Adidome Zone.

9th May, 2021, Mafi-Kumase D/A JHS, Mafi- Kumase zone.

10th May, 2021, Yingor D/A JHS,  Kpedzeglo Zones.
