CIHEAM Bari to Award Scholarships to 61 Brilliant but Needy Tertiary Students in Aveyime–Battor

The International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM Bari), in collaboration with the Aveyime Development Association (ADA), through its AREA Africa in Ghana initiative, has successfully completed the selection process for its Tertiary Educational Support Programme and is set to award scholarships to sixty-one (61) brilliant but needy tertiary students from the Aveyime–Battor community in the North Tongu District of the Volta region, Ghana. 

This milestone follows an earlier public call for applications, which invited eligible fresh and continuing tertiary students to apply for financial support by submitting relevant academic and institutional documents within the stipulated deadline. The application process officially closed on Tuesday, 23rd December 2025, after which all submissions were subjected to careful assessment.

According to information available, applications received were thoroughly reviewed in line with the outlined criteria, including academic performance, financial need, and compliance with submission requirements. Where necessary, shortlisted applicants were invited for further verification to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process.

After this rigorous evaluation, sixty-one (61) applicants emerged successful and have been selected as beneficiaries of the CIHEAM Bari Tertiary Educational Support Scheme.

The scholarship initiative reflects CIHEAM Bari’s sustained commitment to promoting access to tertiary education, supporting human capital development, and empowering vulnerable but talented students within host communities. Beneficiaries are expected to experience significant relief from financial pressures, enabling them to concentrate fully on their academic and personal development.

Community leaders and stakeholders within Aveyime–Battor have praised the programme, describing it as a life-changing intervention that reinforces the value of education as a tool for sustainable development.

Further information regarding the official award process and engagement with beneficiaries will be communicated to the selected students through the appropriate channels.

The selected students will be awarded on Saturday, 31st January, 2026 at Aveyime-Battor Lorry Station in the North Tongu District of the Volta Sector. This was done in collaboration with the Aveyime Development Association.
