Coaches and team mates wanted to sleep with me – Favour Kalu
Athlético FC d’Abijan midfielder Favour Kalu has recently shared her sad and mesmerizing story of the obstacles she had come across in her football career in a one-on-one interview with Tana Aiyejina.
According to the superstar, she has passed through difficulties and challenges most especially in the football camp where they usually lack some basic needs to help them in their daily training and wellness such as food, water, good clothes, and even kits to play football.
She said, “It wasn’t easy at all and I faced a lot of challenges. It was really terrible especially in the camp because most times there won’t be food to eat, water to bath, good clothes to wear, kits to play football and all of that. Sometimes guys harassed me, wanting to sleep with me before they help me or do anything for me, but I never allowed it to happen.”
She further explained how she has been emotionally and physically tormented by men, not to mention the coaches who wanted to take advantage of her due to how attractive she was.
She added, “Most times coaches and teammates would want to take advantage of me because to them I’m too beautiful to be a footballer, but thank God where I am today”
This problem is been experienced by many female players who are afraid to voice it for the issue to be addressed.
