The Leadership of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) have finally called on their members to suspend the over one month strike action against the government which began on the 14th of November, 2022 with immediate effect.
In the release informing members of the suspension, the leadership stated that the strike has been called off following the promises, the Honorable Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum made a passionate appeal to the leadership to suspend the strike as he engages the government on their behalf and get their issues addressed two weeks after the suspension.
The Leadership then conducted polls as a way of consulting their members on the issue of suspension before any step could be taken.
The results of their polls on 14th December, 2022 received a majority of endorsement by their members to suspend the strike action and so the leadership once again engaged in talks with the Minister for Education to update him on the matter.
Having signed the communique that binds them to resume work on 16th December, 2022, the Leadership has finally called on all of its members to go back to the classroom and discharge their duties beginning Monday, 19th December, 2022 whilst they await the outcome of the intervention by the Ministry of Education.
