The Ghanaian Chef Abdul-Razak Failatu (Chef Faila) has recorded over 110 hours of non-stop cooking so far and is still counting as an individual.

Chef Faila commenced her Guinness World Record attempt for the longest cooking marathon on January 1, 2024, and is expected to conclude the marathon on December 5, 2024.

As of December 5, 2024, Chef Faila appears stronger, resembling a fresh “athlete” ready to start the race, despite initially planning to cook for 120 hours.

Faila has surpassed the cooking hours for which Hilda Baci from Nigeria was awarded a certificate.

The current record holder is Alan Fisher, an Irish chef based in Japan, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes, breaking Hilda Baci’s previous record of 93 hours as an individual.

There’s also a report of a Ugandan chef who has recorded 144 hours of cooking as an individual. However, her bid is under check by the GWR officials.

Based on viral videos from the venue, Modern City Hotel in Tamale, Ghanaians are hopeful that Chef Faila will exceed the 120 hours she announced from the onset and with many rooting for 200 hours or more to make the record even more challenging to break, she will go harder for the biggest attempt.

As the days pass, Chef Faila expressed gratitude to all supporters for their cheers. Also, she acknowledged the support from the General Officer Commanding for Northern Command and the Commanding Officer for the 69 Elite Airborne Force.

Media personalities, including Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum (Sing-A-Thon attemptor), her husband, and their team, visited the venue to support Chef Faila.

The Ghanaian and well-known Northerner, Fancy Gadam, a musician, and other artists also came to support Faila in her attempt to break the record and set a competitive one.

Ghana’s Most Beautiful Teiya, among others, visited the venue to support and couldn’t get enough of Chef Faila’s Jollof dish.

The Marketing Director of GBfoods Ghana, Samuel Dery, visited Chef Faila and made a statement, saying, “Chef Faila is on an amazing quest, and as a food brand that wants everyone to enjoy good tasty meals, it is great that Chef Faila has chosen Pomo as her tomato mix of choice in preparing all her dishes.”

“We are particularly happy that while taking on this global challenge, Chef Faila has chosen to do so by using our product to create these amazing dishes that represent a celebration of flavors and cultures,” he added.

Chef Faila’s dishes, in terms of execution, plating, presentation, aroma, and flavor, are on point. By the 56th hour, she had prepared over 60 meals.
