District Police Commander’s boyfriend found dead in her bedroom

In a distressing incident, the lifeless body of a man was discovered in the bedroom of the District Police Commander’s official residence in Kpetoe, Volta Region on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

The residence belongs to a Superintendent of Police who was reportedly away in Ho at the time of the incident. The deceased, identified as Billy Bless, was the Commander’s fiancé.

Billy Bless, believed to be in his mid-40s and the son of the late Paramount Chief of Gbi, Togbega Gabusu VI, has been sent to the morgue at the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) for preservation and further examination through an autopsy.

According to sources close to the District Security Council (DISEC) and the police command, Billy Bless had visited the Superintendent of Police in Ho on Wednesday (October 25, 2023).

The police officer was in Ho to visit her ailing father. After leaving Ho, Billy Bless traveled to Kpetoe without informing the Superintendent of Police or her father about his destination.

Upon arriving at the Kpetoe residence, Billy Bless informed the police commander’s driver that he intended to spend the night there. The driver then handed him the keys to the house.

The following day, when the driver noticed that the keys were not returned to their usual place, he contacted the police commander in Ho to inform her about the unusual situation.

The Superintendent of Police instructed the driver to seek the assistance of a carpenter to open the door, and the driver complied. Upon entering the house, they discovered that the bedroom was locked.

After forcefully opening the bedroom door, they made the tragic discovery of Billy Bless’s lifeless body hanging inside.

Sources indicate that Billy Bless and the police commander were planning to get married, but she had recently learned that he had another girlfriend with whom he had a child.

It is believed that the police commander, upon discovering this, advised Billy Bless to pursue the other woman instead. The emotional impact of this revelation may have led him to take his own life.

Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
