Dr. Bawumia Cuts Sod for work to begin on 250km roads in all GAF Garrisons
The vice president of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has today 22nd may, 2020 cut sod for work to begin on the upgrading of inner roads within all the Garrisons of the Ghana Armed Forces across the country.

This sod cutting for the 250 kilometres of asphalt, bituminous surfacing and reconstruction form part of the President Nana Akufo Addo led government’s ongoing Barracks Re-generation Project which has seen the president commission among others a 64-block housing unit at the Duala Barracks of Burma Camp, equipping the Ghana armed forces with Armoured Fighting Vehicles and pickups/patrol vehicles, over 50 comfortable buses as well as several ongoing projects across the garrisons across the country.
During the sod cutting, Dr Bawumia stated clearly President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to retooling all the Services, tackle the accommodation deficit, and upgrade the roads in the garrisons.
He added that “Government is not relenting on its Agenda of declaring this year ‘The Year of Roads’, even in the face of the crisis of the COVID 19 pandemic facing us.” and urged the Contractors to ensure that high-quality work is done for the roads to last.
