Dr. Bawumia inaugurates taskforce for National Early Warning Centre in Ghana

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana has on Wednesday, 13th May, 2020 inaugurated a taskforce for the establishment of National Early Warning Centre in Ghana.

During a short ceremony held at the Jubilee House, this morning, the Vice President stated that, the major role of the National Early Warning Centre in Ghana is to ensure that, it wans government of possible threats to human security, propose appropriate actions, coordinate and ensure effective monitoring of of government implementation of response to warnings.

“The Centre’s role is to warn Government of threats to human security, propose appropriate action, and coordinate and ensure monitoring of the implementation of response to the warning.” He explained.

Dr. Bawumia further said “an efficient and effective early warning and response mechanism will not only guarantee the needed security for our development, but would help us prevent wanton loss of lives, health crises, humanitarian disasters, environmental calamities, among others.”

In his concluding statement, he wished the Taskforce the very best as they undertake this important national assignment.
