Dr. Bawumia must be relieved of responsibility as chair of economic management team – Mahama to Akufo-Addo

Former President John Mahama has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to relief the Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia of his responsibility as chair of the economic management team.
According to the former president, this will enable the president to reconstitute the team.
President Mahama made this known a Facebook post, after the announcement of the decision by government to engage the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for support.
President Akufo-Addo on Friday, July 1, 2022 directed the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to commence formal engagement with the IMF for support.
The news came as a surprised for Ghanaians, considering how the current government chastised the Mahama-led administration for sending Ghana to IMF.
President Mahama has however urged that, a comprehensive home-grown programme should be fashioned out and presented to the Fund for support.
Government had earlier indicated that, the decision not to go for an IMF bailout necessitated the introduction of the e-levy.
