Dr. Collins Eli Asilevi, a young Medical Laboratory Professional has been elected as the volta Regional Secretary for the Medical laboratory Professional Worker’s Union (MELPWU) in a contest to elect regional executives across the country for the Medical Laboratory Professional Worker’s Union.
The electoral process who some describe as very competitive saw many aspirant with their manifestos and campaigns on social media and professional platforms over the past weeks.
Finally the young Doctor have been elected as the Regional Secretary for the Union.
In the appreciation message release by the budding medical lawyer, Dr Asilevi Eli Collins, the Regional Secretary elect, he thank all those who voted for him and also retaliate that their votes is a manifestation of their trust and confidence in him to deliver as the Regional Secretary for MELPWU.
He added that, their vote is an assurance that the Medical Laboratory Professionals in the Volta Region are ready to support him to succeed as the Regional Secretary for MELPWU and urge all the professionals to continue to deliver their best to patient care and work together in unity with him and other elected executives to bargain with government to improve the working conditions of members of the Union.
MELPWU is a unionized body of Medical Laboratory Professionals in Ghana. Their members perform laboratory investigations to uncover diseases and provide the right information to guide treatment.
Thus, members are the detectives in the healthcare industry. Their passion and steadfast commitment to science to promotes a healthy population and contributes positively to economic growth.
Eligible members are employees of the Ministry of Health and allied agencies comprising of the Ghana Health Service, Teaching Hospitals, Christian Health Association of Ghana, Ahmadiyya Health Service, Mental Health Authority, quasi-government health institutions and the related private health facilities.
MELPWU is independent, nongovernmental, and apolitical. They are affiliated to local and international organizations for mutual benefits.
