Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh urges NUGS to be proactive in providing suggestions on national policies

The Minister for Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has urged leadership of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) to be proactive in expressing their views on national policies.

Speaking at forum organised by the Ministry of Energy and NUGS at the University of Ghana on Wednesday, 1st June, 2022 on the development of a National Energy Transition Plan, the Minister noted that the global advocacy for energy transition and decarbonization has left many countries in limbo.

According to him, the situation affects Ghana too and therefore, there is the need to strategically plan to overcome the challenges imposed by the energy transition agenda and to move with the rest of the world towards cleaner energy.

The forum was part of stakeholders engagement being organised by the Ministry of Energy through the National Energy Transition Committee, aimed at developing a broad-based National Energy Transition Plan that could capture the broad sentiments and aspirations of Ghanaians on energy transition.
