Dzifa Gomashie explains why Ghana must take advantage of French language
Abla Dzifa Gomashie, MP for Ketu South
The Honourable Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie has explained reasons Ghana must take advantage of French language as a developing country in this era.
She indicated that, there is a need for Ghana to take key interest and advantage of the French language to be internationally competitive in the job market.
According to the MP, her visit to the candidates of the just ended 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Ketu South constituency revealed that some candidates didn’t write the French paper because it wasn’t taught in their school.

She explained that, the people of Ketu South and Ghana, are surrounded by French speaking countries. French speakers come to Ghana to study English. French speakers do a better job at speaking English than we do with French. In view of this, they will continue dominating the job market if we don’t up our game in the teaching and learning of the French language.
Dzifa Gomashie further said, she visits most of the International agencies and UN agencies and you will find more French speakers. They have the advantage of speaking two languages.

“Our policy makers need to address this in their next review. The distribution of French speakers should improve. Whilst they are on it, they must address the dominance and promotion of one language in Greater Accra. There must be options for our children”. Mama Abla Dzifa Gomashie explained.
