E-levy is a proportional tax which accounts for low income earners – Majority Chief Whip

The Majority Chief Whip of the 8th Parliament of Ghana, Honourable Frank Annoh-Dampreh has explained the relevant of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Government’s Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy).

According to the Majority Chief Whip, Government’s E-levy is a proportional tax which also accounts for low income earners.

He further said, the e-levy seeks to provide funding to tackle youth employment and build social and digital infrastructure.

The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri added that, there’s need for everyone to support government to implement this tax to fund the very things we need as a people.

Explaining further, he has clarified that, the massive nation-wide programs including Free SHS, PFFJs, 1D1F and Year of Roads, point to this government’s ability to account for revenue it generates and receives. We can be confident that this levy will be judiciously used.
