The Member of Parliament for the Klotey Korley Constituency Dr. Danetor Agyeman-Rawlings has disclosed that, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has failed to implement guidelines for safe registration of voters.
Dr. Zanetor who went to some registration centres in her constituency to monitor the Electoral Commission’s registration exercise said, the officials failed to clean or disinfect the fingerprint scanner after registering people. The Member of Parliament expressed worry over the happenings at the registration centres because EC is acting n contrary to what they told the general public.

The daughter of the former president Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings suggested that, the Electoral Commission should introduce a system where hand sanitizers will be effectively used since they are not following protocols to protect lives of Ghanaians.
“The EC process clearly states that the fingerprint scanner will be cleaned before each use. However, as part of my daily visits to a number of registration centres, I have encountered a number of situations where this was not the case. Have you observed it as well?

If the fingerprint scanner cannot be cleaned before each use, then for the safety of the official and the registrant, sanitizer should be applied to the hands before and after each use especially when the waiting time between hand-washing and scanning their fingerprints is long.
