Famous preacher asks congregants worldwide to contribute $300 each to purchase Range Rover
Ugandan preacher Prophet Samuel Kakande has sparked controversy by asking his congregants to contribute cash for his new vehicle, a Range Rover.
In a video, the head of The Synagogue Church of All Nations, Uganda, set a deadline of April 20, 2024, for members to send contributions.
Kakande’s plan, dubbed the “Transport Blessing” scheme, involves asking followers worldwide to contribute $300 each to help him buy the car. He added that in return the contributors will receive a prayer card supposedly helping them acquire their own new car by the end of the year.
However, this raises questions. Many believers have asked logical questions which is an indication that the masses are waking up from the shackles of faith used by many many religious organizations to take away their hard earned cash.
Below are the logical questions/concerns raised by the netizens who chanced on the fundraising video:
– If the prayer cards truly work, why doesn’t Kakande use one to get his own Range Rover?
– Followers pay real money for his car, but only receive a prayer card to help them buy their dream cars.
– With over 50,000 followers worldwide, if half contribute $300 each, Kakande would receive $7.5 million, far exceeding the $200,000 needed for the Range Rover. What happens to the $7.3 million balance?
Majority of the critics argue that this is a clear case of religious exploitation, taking advantage of devotees’ trust and faith for personal gain. The scheme’s legitimacy and Kakande’s intentions have been called into question, sparking outrage and debate.
