The founder of Folio Media Group, Rita Dominic’s legal husband Fidelis Anosike has explained how he bought the Nigeria Daily Times newspaper in 2005 from the government of Nigeria after they made an announcement for its sale in 2003.
He indicated that the offer by the government through the public wasn’t successful therefore they changed their sale deal to Co-investor sale.
Through the co-investor sale, Fidelis Anosike and his brothers bought the newspaper in 2005. In their partnership, he, Fidelis Anosike holds the greatest share of 75%, Neol Anosike 15% and others.
Through his company, Folio Media Group, bought the newspaper, he is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of his company.

According to Fidelis Anosike, he is a Graphic Artist by profession not a Business man as speculated. He deals with graphic arts not purchasing and selling of properties.
After University of Benin, Nigeria (graduated in 1989), he worked with Central Bank of Nigeria as a Grating Card Bid and won 14,500 Naira from the bid as at that time which was a great deal.
He bought the country’s newspaper at the age of 35 which is an indication of energy for greatness in the media landscape. The Folio Company bought Daily Times Nigeria at a whooping cost of 1.25 Billion Naira.
Commercial controversy
Fidelis Anosike narrated that, they had a commercial disputes around the company’s assets by a Senator, spent several years in court, ceased the Daily Times Newspaper but in 2007, official publications commenced till date.
“All tagged cases were won by their company with fear nor intimidation from the involved Sentors, cancellation of some deals among others.”
“During the young age of Daily Times newspaper as at the time Folio company bought it, the world was moving digital /or a transition era where online portals become more vital than the traditional handling of newspapers therefore they ought to paddle with the same wave.” He added.
He further explained that, they sold properties of Daily Times to acquire printing assets which assisted them in digitalisation of all the media house’s records dated 1947 thereabout.
He added that, with the digitalisation transition, the entire country and citizens in the diaspora can access news dated back in the days of founding Daily Times newspaper in Nigeria.
