GES Proposed Periods Allocation and Length of School Day

The Ghana Education Service has released a proposed periods allocation and length of school day for all Public Basic Schools in Ghana.

According to the proposed schedules, the following have been designed to assist all Junior High School (JHS) teachers in proper and effective implementation of the Common Core Programme (CCP) Curriculum.

PROPOSED PERIOD AND LENGTH OF SCHOOL DAYS

  1. Duration of one period of instruction is 50 minutes.
  2. Total number of proposed period per day is 8.
  3. Total number of period per week is 40 (8x5days).
  4. Break is 60 minutes. That is for 1st and 2nd
