Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has reacted to the decision on the number of subjects to be written by 2024 BECE Candidates in Ghana.

In a statement issued by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, PR Department of GES said the decision is inconclusive.

The statement said, the Director in charge of Schools and Instructions in an attempt to trigger public discussion on the 2024 BECE and NACCA’s decision to scrap some subjects hinted on the possibility of candidates writing five subjects for the 2024 BECE.

Yes, there has been some discussions surrounding the subject matter and a proposal to write the five subjects but the decision is inconclusive.

The public has reacted and there are calls to include other subjects whilst other concerns are being raised.

GES would like to state unequivocally that the stakeholders are yet to finalize on the decision.

The Ministry, NACCA, GES and other bodies are critically looking at the issues and the final decision would be communicated on the GES or the Ministry’s letterhead or published on the official website of the various bodies.

“We therefore advise directors, heads, students, parents to note that what is circulating on social media isn’t conclusive and may be subject to change after meeting all the stakeholders involved.”
