GES Recruitment: Open letter to Minister of Education, and D-G of GES

Dear Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah
We write to bring to your attention the delay in the posting of trained teachers from the 46 Accredited Public Colleges of Education in Ghana.

Information available to CoverGhana suggests that under your leadership, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has failed to fulfill its promises on several occasions to open the GES recruitment portal for the Newly Trained/Qualified Teachers from the 46 Public Colleges of Education.
We understand that your office has been engaged by the leadership of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) and a group calling itself the Coalition of Concerned Unemployed Graduates on this matter.
Currently, the first batch of Bachelor of Education (B.ED.) graduates from the Colleges of Education, who successfully completed their education in 2022, wrote the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) conducted by the National Teaching Council (NTC) in 2023, and subsequently enrolled and completed their one-year mandatory national service in December 2023, are still at home without employment.
It is becoming increasingly concerning why GES is delaying the recruitment of these teachers because records show that since the 2016/2017 academic year, this is the first time postings of Trained and Qualified Teachers from the Colleges have been delayed beyond March of every year.
Today is April 5, 2024, and there has been no official communication from GES regarding the recruitment of these teachers.
The Newly Trained/Qualified Teachers from the 46 Public Colleges of Education assert that you owe them an explanation for the delay in the recruitment procedures, including opening the GES portal to allow them to apply.
