GES and MoE must explain the delay in recruiting newly trained teachers -Agboni Nicholas

The former National Secretary of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG), Mr. Agboni Nicholas Kelvin has called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) to explain the delay in recruiting newly trained teachers.
According to Mr. Agboni Kelvin, the Ministry of Education, led by Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and the Ghana Education Service (GES), led by Dr. Eric Nkansah, owe Newly Trained/Qualified Teachers from the 46 Public Colleges of Education an explanation for delaying the recruitment procedures, which include opening the GES portal to allow them to apply.
He added, “It is becoming worrying why GES is delaying the recruitment of the teachers.”
“GES and MoE must take a bold decision to open the recruitment portal for recruitment of the teachers. It’s long overdue.”
The batch involved here is the 2022 group which started their studies in 2018 and completed in 2022. The said batch sat for their licensure examination in September 2023 and results were released in December 2023.
The batch also completed their mandatory one-year National Service in December 2023 waiting eagerly for GES to open the recruitment portal for the commencement of employment.
