For individuals who have always aspired to serve their country as proud members of the Ghanaian Armed Forces, the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) has officially released the entry requirements for the 2023 enlistment.

Whether your ambition lies in joining the Army, Navy, Air Force, or a Tri-Service Corps, this article will provide you with a comprehensive guide on the application process, including essential eligibility criteria, application steps, and important deadlines.

Eligibility Criteria

Before embarking on your application, it is crucial to ensure that you meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Citizenship: You must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  2. Character: A good character is a prerequisite.
  3. Marital Status: Applicants for Regular Cadet positions must be unmarried.
  4. Age: For Regular Cadet positions, the age requirement is between 18 and 26 years old by 30th March 2024.
  5. Medical Fitness: You must meet the medical fitness standards set by the Ghana Armed Forces.
  6. Height Requirements: Male applicants must have a minimum height of 1.68 meters (5’6″), while females must have a minimum height of 1.60 meters (5’2″). However, for Military Police applicants, males should be at least 1.75 meters (5’9″), and females should be at least 1.70 meters (5’7″).

Educational Qualifications:

Applicants must meet one of the following educational qualification options:

  1. Six credits at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) level, including English and Mathematics.
  2.  Six credits at the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) level, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.
  3. Six credits at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) level, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.
  4.  For GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Levels, applicants need five credits, including English Language and Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level, and not less than a D in three subjects, along with General Paper at GCE ‘A’ Level.
  5.  Applicants must hold a First Degree not below Second Class Lower.

Application Process

To apply to the Ghana Military Academy for the 2023 enlistment, follow these steps:

  1. Purchase an Electronic Voucher: Obtain an Electronic Voucher from a designated post office at a cost of GH¢350.00.
  2. Visit the Recruitment Portal: Access the recruitment portal at apply.mil.gh using either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
  3. Read Entry Requirements: Familiarize yourself with the entry requirements provided on the portal.
  4. Begin Your Application:
    • Click on the “Apply Now” tab to reach the applicant authentication page.
    • Enter your card Serial Number and PIN code.
    • Select your preferred Arm of Service, type of commission, and click “Submit.”
  5. Provide Personal Details:
    • On Page 1, select your desired vacancy and provide all other required information.
    • On Page 2, upload a scanned passport-sized photograph (200 x 180 pixels).
    • Enter a valid email address and personal mobile phone number (format: 233244123456).
    • Fill in any other necessary data.
  6. Enter Exam Results:
    • On Page 3, enter the results of the three required core subjects from your WASSCE/SSCE results slip, which are CORE MATHEMATICS AND CORE ENGLISH.
    • Provide your WASSCE or SSSCE Index number, results slip Serial Number, and select a Tertiary Institution from the list of schools.
    • Enter your graduating GPA/CWA and provide all other required data.
    • Upload scanned copies of your WASSCE or SSSCE Results Slip and First Degree/Certificate (Degree).
  7. Review and Submit:
    • Click on the “Preview” button to review all the provided data.
    • Carefully check the summary page, and if needed, click the “back” button to make modifications.
    • Click the “Submit” button.
  8. Confirmation:
    • You will receive an instant email and text message containing your unique system-generated Identification Number.
  9. Keep Records: Print and retain a copy of the generated report as it will be required if you are shortlisted. In case of loss, you can request a re-print by visiting the recruitment portal.

Deadline Dates for sale of forms 

The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, November 19, 2023.

Remember to keep the used Electronic Voucher, as it will be inspected at every stage of the selection process.
