Giles Mutsekwa was a vibrant Zimbabwean politician. Giles in February 2009, was called to the Unity Government as one of two co-ministers of Home Affairs by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and Giles was sworn into office on 13th February 2009.

He concurrently served as Secretary for Security and Intelligence of the MDC-T and from the year 2000 to 2009 he served as MP for Mutare North. Giles was reassigned and became Minister for Housing in 2010.
