GNAT, NAGRAT and CCT writes to GES over One Teacher One Laptop Policy

In a joint effort to address the growing concerns about the one teacher one laptop policy,  the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Concerned Teachers Association (CCT) have written a letter to the Ghana Education Service (GES) expressing their unease over the delayed implementation of the One Teacher One Laptop policy.

During a recent meeting of the Teacher Union leadership, it was revealed that a significant number of teachers have yet to receive their laptops, despite having the necessary deductions made from their salaries. This has resulted in a growing sense of frustration and agitation among the affected teachers.

In their letter to the GES, the teacher unions stated the need for swift action to ensure that all teachers who were deducted for the TM1 Laptop receive their devices promptly. They expressed concern that the delay in the distribution of laptops could have a negative impact on the quality of education being delivered to students across the country.

The teacher unions also stated that if the situation is not resolved within the next two weeks, teachers may take matters into their own hands and explore alternative means to obtain the laptops they were promised.

The teacher unions have also notified the National Labour Commission of the situation, seeking their intervention in ensuring a speedy resolution.

The One Teacher One Laptop policy was introduced with the aim of equipping teachers with the necessary tools and resources to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in Ghana. However, the delay in the distribution of laptops has hindered the effective implementation of this policy, causing frustration among the teaching community.

The GES has not yet issued an official statement in response to the letter from the teacher unions. However, it is expected that they will take the concerns raised seriously and work towards resolving the issue promptly.
