Government abolishes double track system for Senior High School students in form 1 & 3

The government of Ghana through the Ministry of Education has abolished the double track system for Senior High School students.

Preaident Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his 21st address on Covid-19 says, form three (3) students in Senior High School and form one (1) students across the country will no longer run the double track system.

According to him, the expansion of infrastructure at the various Senior High Schools, over the last three (3) years, has brought us to this favourable situation.


Basic schools to reopen on 15th January, 2021- President Akufo-Addo

Addressing the nation on steps taken by government to combat the spread of the Novel Coronavirus said, the double track system will still be applicable to SHS 2 students in schools that are employing it.

Meanwhile form two (2) and three (3) Senior High Schools are expected to return to school on 18th January 2021 while form one (1) SHS will reopen School on 10th March, 2021.

He further said, students in universities and other tertiary institutions are to be in school from Saturday, 9th January.
