Government to create 1million jobs in the next two years – Ken Ofori Atta

The Minister of Finance Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta says the Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party will create a million jobs for the youth of Ghana.

According to Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta who is the man in charge of managing the country’s economy, the Covid-19 pandemic which struck the country in 2020 has caused several job losses and this has worsened the unemployment rate in the country.

He further added that, because of the increase in the unemployment rate in the country, the Government will put plans in place to help create a million jobs for the youth for the next two and a half years.

In paragraph 30 of his mid years fiscal policy review of the budget, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta said;

“One of the serious impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the loss of jobs, which has exacerbated the unemployment problem, particularly among the youth. As such, Government is ready with a comprehensive programme to tackle this intractable problem. The goal is to create employment opportunities for a million of our young people over the next two and a half years by igniting a high spirit of entrepreneurship.”

The finance minister further called on the Parliament of Ghana to support Government when it begins putting plans in place to create these one (1) million jobs.
