Ho Technical University and the Naval Training Command of the Ghana Armed Forces signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance academic collaborations.
Through the partnership, Ho Technical University will provide academic mentorship and certifications to Ghana Navy recruits and officers through the Command’s School of Supply Applications at Nutekpor, in the South Tongu District.

The Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Professor Ben Honyenuga and Registrar Dr. Christopher Amehoe signed the MoU on behalf of the University, while Commodore Prosper Modey, Chief Staff Officer at Naval Headquarters, and Commodore Godwin Bessing, Flag Officer Commanding of the Naval Training Command, signed on behalf of their institution.
The relationship is considered as mutually beneficial, with both students and officers gaining new skills and knowledge. This decision is consistent with Ho Technical University’s purpose of producing skilled human capital through focused education, training, research, and collaboration.

Commodore Modey stressed the importance of the MoU in encouraging excellence, collaboration, and personal growth. He emphasized the significance of training naval troops for maritime operations and boosting the navy’s capabilities.
Commodore Bessing emphasized the importance of this relationship in improving navy personnel training, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to the terms of the MoU.
High-ranking officials from the Ghana Navy, University Management, and several departments attended the occasion. This collaboration is a step forward in providing navy personnel with relevant academic and practical information for their future careers.
