Ho West Education Directorate directs teachers to pay for promotion exam and “workshop” fee

The Ho West Education Directorate has directed teachers to pay an amount of money for promotion workshop and exams.

In an official letter dated 14th August 2023 bearing the signature of Mrs. Paulina Slyn Eworde Gobe, District Director of Ho-West, Volta Region invites applicants who are due for the 2023 Confirmation and Junior Rank Promotion in GES.

According to the letter, the “management of Ho West Education Directorate writes to invite all applicants who are due for the 2023 Confirmation and Junior Rank Promotion in the Ghana Education Service for a day’s Promotion Examination to justify the rank they have applied for.”

In addition, the letter detailed the scheduled date, time, and venue for the exercise.

2023 GES JUNIOR RANK CONFIRMATION EXAM DATE

The stated date for writing the 2023 Confirmation/Junior Rank Promotion Examination is Friday 18th August 2023.

The management of Ho West Education Directorate directed all Headteachers under their jurisdiction to relay the information to their teachers especially, the applicants on their respective staff.

COST OF APPLICATION FORM AND ORGANIZATION; 2023 GES JUNIOR RANK CONFIRMATION EXAM VENUE

The issued letter indicated that each applicant will pay Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 50.00) as the cost of the application form and organization of the Examination.

However, it has been disclosed that the management has charged all the applicants a hidden fee which has not been captured in the letter.

The hidden cost was stated in a served “workshop” notice as “Participation fee”. The said workshop will be held on Thursday, 17th August 2023. Meaning, the workshop will be held a day before the officially announced date for the examination, Friday, 18th August 2023.

Candidates due for the 2023 Junior Rank Promotion Exam are hereby informed that there will be a Refresher Training for Candidates in Ho West District.

Participation fee

The participation fee as stated is GH¢ 55.00. The said fee is said to cover water, hiring of venue, and other training logistics.

PARTICIPATION FEE PAYMENT: MODE OF PAYMENT

The added mode of payment for the “workshop” registration fee has been directed to be paid to the number 0558581392 bearing the name David Kordjo Adam.

Also, they indicated that the candidates can make the payment at the communicated workshop centre.

In a nutshell, all applicants who will sit for the promotion examination will pay an amount of GH¢105.00 (the official GH¢50.00 and the backdoor GH¢55.00 tagged as the Participation fee for the hide-and-planned workshop).
