Ho West: Hon. Bedzrah honours his pledge to a Law student

The Member of Parliament for the Ho West constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah yesterday brought smiles to the face of a first year Law student of the University of Ghana by delivering on his pledge to pay her fees.

Miss Irene Honu, a former student of Tsito Senior High Technical School emerged winner of a writing competition among second cycle schools in the Ho West District. Her story “Aba overcomes adversities” was adjudged the best and same was selected as title of a book of short stories published last year and recommended for use by senior High Schools as additional reading material.

Hon. Bedzrah at the awards ceremony last year promised to sponsor the ultimate winner of the competition through his/her tertiary education. Miss Honu, who indicated that her ambition was to read Law promised to work hard at the WASSCE in order to gain admission into the Law school.

In fulfilling his pledge to Irene at his private office yesterday, 13th January, 2021, Hon Bedzrah did not only present a cheque for Irene’s fees, but also donated a laptop to the Law student to enable her conduct research without difficulties.

Present at the office was Miss Vera Hayibor, another beneficiary of Hon. Bedzrah’s educational program, and who is currently pursuing her PhD in Law at the UK. Miss Vera used the occasion to advise Irene on campus life and also urged her to study hard while promising to be her academic mentor.

Miss Honu who was at the MP’s office in the company of another friend was extremely excited and expressed her gratitude to Hon. Bedzrah while praying for strength so he could do more for those in need.

Hon. Bedzrah on the other hand implored the young law student to take her studies seriously and also remain in touch with his office for any other assistance as she journeys through her academic path. The legislator has over the past twelve years sponsored over 3,500 students at various levels of education using both personal resources and part of his MPs common fund.  Going forward, he hopes to concentrate more on apprenticeship programs and tertiary education for his constituents.
