Hon. Ablakwa donates free chop boxes and mattresses to 2,207 JHS graduates in North Tongu

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to education by providing essential support to fresh Junior High School (JHS) graduates in his constituency who are preparing to begin their Senior High School (SHS) journey.

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, Hon. Ablakwa distributed free chop boxes and student mattresses to 2,207 fresh JHS graduates from North Tongu who completed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and have gained admission into Senior High Schools. The event took place at the Mepe Presby JHS Park (Afenorto Park).

The initiative, now in its second edition, was introduced to ease the transition of students into SHS by removing the financial burden of purchasing basic boarding items. In his remarks, Hon. Ablakwa emphasized: “All my beloved 2,207 fresh North Tongu SHS entrants don’t have to worry about buying mattresses and chop boxes — their MP has got them covered for free.”

Beyond this support, all five Senior High Schools in North Tongu are also benefiting from major infrastructural expansion projects spearheaded by the MP, including new mega dining halls and dormitories. These facilities are expected to significantly enhance both academic and residential life.

Hon. Ablakwa reiterated his commitment to education, declaring, “Every barrier shall be removed; no one must drop out. The North Tongu tradition continues. For God and Country.”

The distribution exercise attracted massive participation, with branch executives from Aveyime to Mepe joining to support ground mobilization. Arrangements were also made to transport beneficiaries to the venue, ensuring a smooth and successful program.

This latest intervention, celebrated under the banners #HopeHasCome, #TogbeWorgbedziCares, and #NorthTonguRising, reflects the MP’s enduring vision of breaking barriers and uplifting the next generation of leaders through education.
