The North Tongu constituency Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has listed the tremendous works he has done for his constituency within a span of four (4) years, 2021-2024.

North Tongu MP’s List of Achievements for 2021
1. Donated a Combine harvester, power tillers & planters to rice farmers of Aveyime and beyond. All valued at over GHS300,000.00.
2. Donated a saloon vehicle to the longest serving and most dedicated midwife at the Battor Catholic Hospital.
3. Free cervical cancer screening for thousands of women on the back of a donation of a modern screening equipment then valued at GHS100,000.00.
4. Free eye screening, free surgeries for some 400 constituents and 10,000 free eye glasses. Sponsored subsequent referrals for treatment.
5. Free Hospital bills support for the vulnerable. About GHS250,000 paid to hospitals since the inception of this initiative.
6. MP’s support to tertiary students – 355 currently on scholarship.
7. Paid over 600 private school teachers due to COVID-19 induced school closures.
8. Cash grants to some 200 distressed staff of Musahamat Farms Ltd laid off due to the pandemic.
9. Financial support and Christmas packages for unpaid NABCO trainees.
10. Helped establish the new Tagadzi Polyclinic.
11. Constructing a new medical theatre block at Tagadzi Polyclinic. 95% complete.
12. Ordered medical equipment valued at US$300,000 for Tagadzi Polyclinic Theatre and other health facilities.
13. Operation Brighten Every Corner [OBEC] Phase II (covering churches, mosques and schools – 1,500 Street Lights provided for free).
14. Donated some 300 Life jackets for all river crossing points in North Tongu.
15. Donated some 400 Wheel chairs to all physically challenged.
16) MP sponsored free checking of WASSCE results.
17. MP’s Furniture and Footwear Bank – storing 5,000 pieces of furniture and 2,000 footwear for all-year-round distribution to end “no -furniture-syndrome”.
18. Donated laptops to all ICT teachers, Assembly Members, Circuit Supervisors, All Health Facilities and Security Agencies.
19. Carried out a targeted subsidised cement.intervention.
20. Water systems installation at Salaga and Juapong Police Station.
21. Special Recognition and cash award for North Tongu female Fire Service Commander who saved the Mankessim Market.
22. Provided full scholarship plus stipend support for our first female aerospace engineering student at KNUST. Also appointed her a STEM Ambassador to inspire other young females in our beloved constituency.
23. Instituted Free Health Care for North Tongu’s senior citizens who are members of the District Pensioners’ Association.
24. Free Hygiene Needs Support Scheme for 700 Adolescent Girls every month.
25. Instituted a special Insurance Scheme for our COVID-19 response team and full redemption of cash pledges to frontline healthcare workers.
26. Refurbished Aveyime Police Station, provided flat screen TV and computers. Also, financial support to overhaul police patrol pickup.
27. Special career support for North Tongu and Ghana’s first female international competitive kickboxer, Sylvia Dogah.
28. Full financial support for North Tongu’s first siamese twins delivery and subsequent surgical separation.
29. First ever donation of an incubator to the Children’s Ward of the Akuse Government Hospital.
30. Signed an MoU with TIAST of China for the construction of a 6,000 tonne Cassava Starch Processing Factory. 4,000 acres of land secured for the factory

31. 4th January, 2022 – Refurbishing North Tongu’s National Ambulance Service Office by connecting potable water, providing a PolyTank, Desktop Computer and Printer.
32. 9th January, 2022 – Established the North Tongu Ambulance Service Fund for vulnerable patients.
33. 13th January, 2022- Cement Donation to North Tongu Pensioners Association for Construction of Multipurpose District Pensioners Building.
34. 17th January, 2022 – Free distribution of hundreds of school furniture from our North Tongu Furniture & Footwear Bank [FFB] to public basic schools including the remotest ones, ahead of reopening.
35. 24th January, 2022 Hosted a non-partisan town hall on the controversial E-Levy Bill under the chairmanship of Togbe Azagba at the Royal Masito Hotel in Mepe. Participants voted 98.81% against the obnoxious E-Levy.
36. 7th February, 2022 – Embarked on a working tour and visited: SinoStone BioEthanol Manufacturing Company at Afaode; Inspected expansion work at St.Anne’s PolyClinic at Tagadzi; Engaged staff at the Volo Health Center and sponsored their emergency renovations; Assessed progress of work on link roads initiated in Mellenu and Gborkope in Dorfor Traditional Area.
37. 13th February, 2022-Organised a Mentorship Symposium at Vume.
38. 13th February, 2022- Donation of free footwear from our Furniture and Footwear Bank to the children of Adidokpoe and satellite communities.
39. 13th February, 2022- Massive cleanup of Battor Catholic Hospital with the Volta Vandals Association.
40. 22nd March, 2022- Donation of my two- Months Salary to National Service Personnel whose January and February allowances were in arrears.
41. 28th March, 2022 Launched a Paid Internship Programme for Ghanaian medical students evacuated from Ukraine to volunteer at the Battor Catholic Hospital. Also provided free accommodation.
42. 10th April, 2022 Commissioning of Sikor mechanized borehole project & Launching of MP’s Safe Water for Villages Project; Achieved our target of providing 100 mechanised boreholes for hard-to-reach villages without access to potable water by 2023.
43. 21st April, 2022-Donation of Samsung Galaxy Tablets to newly posted teachers working in remote villages of the North Tongu District.
44. 3rd May, 2022-Donation of Bicycles and Helmets to selected Muslim female day students in long distance JHS and SHS as a new MP’s intervention to promote girl child education in the zongos.
45. 8th May, 2022-Abolished all charges victims of sexual offences are Required to pay when they submit police medical forms for a doctor’s report. The MP’s office will reimburse all hospitals.
46. 11th June 2022- North Tongu MP & Cuban Medical Brigade’s free medical outreach, free consultation & free medication.
47. 6th July, 2022 Invited British High Commissioner, H.E. Harriet Thompson on an official tour of Juapong Textiles in efforts to attract foreign investors to revamp the factory.
48. 6th July, 2022 – Free eye surgeries & provision of free eye glasses for all 750 management & staff of Juapong Textiles Company Ltd.
49. 1st August 2022 – MP in collaboration with GIZ and Africa Skills Hub launch a new initiative focusing on Skills Training & providing Startup Capital for hundreds of my beloved youth as we empower & create jobs. Also donated HP Laptops to all 5 School Prefects of the 5 Senior High Schools (ABAST, BaSec, St. Kizito, DorSec & VoloSec).
50. 4th August, 2022-donation of a Samsung tablet with free internet connectivity and a wide range of e-reading materials to adorable Samelia who represented the constituency in a regional reading championship. She was subsequently placed on MP’s scholarship scheme and received a cash amount of GHS3,000.00.
51. 7th August, 2022-Donation of another round of boxes of protective gear, gun thermometers, N95 masks, and sanitisers to Battor Catholic Hospital to assist with the COVID-19 fight.
52. 13th August 2022-Cleared a fully loaded 40-foot container of medical equipment worth millions of Ghana Cedis shipped from the United States of America for the historic modern Surgical Theatre Project and other health facilities.
53. 18th August 2022-Offered Special Discounts to North Tongu Rice Farmers under the MP’s Combine Harvester $ Rice Tiller Services for Rice Farmers in the North Tongu Constituency.
54. 12th September 2022- Refurbishment of Juapong Military Post after it was gutted by fire a few months ago, and subsequent donation of a 65″ flatscreen TV, deep freezer, refrigerator, microwave & a 3,500L water tank.
55. 13th September, 2022-Cut sod in Aveyime for the construction of a modern Kindergarten with staff offices which is now at 85% completion.
56. 26th September, 2022 Ho Teaching Hospital and Volta Regional Health Directorate receive their share of my imported medical equipment and supplies.
57. 29th September, 2022-Donation of medical equipment and supplies to Likpe Polytechnic in the unrepresentated SALL Constituency of the Oti Region.
58. 30th September, 2022 Donation of medical equipment to the Neurosurgery Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital
59. 8th October 2022 – Replacement of All dining furniture at Aveyime Battor Secondary Technical using local carpenters.
60. 15th October, 2022-Partnership with the internationally acclaimed Dr. Michael Obeng and his RESTORE volunteer specialists to offer free plastic reconstructive surgery at the Ho Teaching Hospital which transformed 174 Ghanaian lives from various regions including my beloved North Tongu constituents.
61. 18th October, 2022 Commissioning of our ultramodern fully equipped John Evans Atta Mills Surgical Block at the St. Anne’s Polyclinic in Tagadzi, Dorfor. Also re-equipped all health facilities in all 6 Traditional Areas of the constituency.
62. 24th October, 2022 Launched a special initiative to replace all blackboards in public schools with marker boards. First phase covering all JHS & SHS completed.
63. 30th November, 2022-Commissioned The Green Clinic Health Centre at Atsiekpoe in Battor Torgodo constructed by Stepping Stones for Africa Foundation & the MP’s Office.
64. 2nd December, 2022 Supported the North Tongu Farmers’ Day Celebration with a cash donation of GHS 10,000.00.
65. 11th December, 2022 – Paid a working visit to the Three Kings Special School and made a financial donation to cover feeding when management revealed that their outstanding feeding grant from government was still in arrears.
66. 26th December 2022 – Free Medical Outreach in Juapong by the globally acclaimed Cuban Medical Brigade.
67. During the year under review, some 105 tertiary students benefited from the MP’s Scholarship Scheme.
68. Free Mock Examinations was sponsored by the MP’s office for BECE and WASSCE candidates.
69. We expanded Operation Brighten Every Corner (OBEC) with the installation of some 800 streetlights.
70. Sponsored all-year-round servicing of all School Buses; supported the District Education Directorate’s Budget as an MP’s priority institution & donated office computers to improve education service delivery.
71. Secured 4,000 hectares of land for a special Youth in Agric initiative.
72. The MP’s Free Medical Support for the financially handicapped and the aged at the Battor Catholic Hospital was also administered efficiently with some 60 constituents benefiting as they were discharged free of charge with the MP’s office responsible for their medical bills.

73. Ambulance Service Fund established for vulnerable patients needing referrals outside the Volta Region after addressing challenges faced by the National Ambulance Service in North Tongu.
74. Sponsored 8-year-old Grace Makafui Dogah and her coach in preparations for the Bookworm National Reading Competition, with promises of additional rewards for her success.
75. Celebrated the dedication of North Tongu branch executives with scholarships, free healthcare for seniors, and recognition for their service to the community.
76. Provided medical equipment and essential medicines to the District Health Directorate for local health facilities.
77. Continued efforts to expand access to potable water with the recent commissioning in Avilordzorgbe and Mepe.
78. Secured land and facilitated the construction of the first VRA spillage victims resettlement homes by the First Sky Group in Aveyime.
79. Launched a program offering free one-month hotel accommodation and laptops for newly posted nurses and midwives to support their transition.
80. Distributed life jackets at river crossing points to ensure the safety of young voters traveling for registration.
81. Launched the MPs relief caravan to distribute relief items to 21 displaced camps.
82. Initiated the Aveyime-Agbetikpo-Tokpo road construction to improve logistics and transport for relief efforts.
83. Offered a University scholarship and gifted a laptop to young Gertrude for her free classes for displaced children.
84. “Operation Restore,” replacing school supplies for 3,000 displaced pupils affected by floods.
85. Provided full fees for 50 tertiary students from the most affected displaced families, totalling over GHS110,000.
86. Initiated fumigation of Mepe St. Kizito Senior Technical School to prepare it for reopening after housing displaced persons.
87. Continued the free school ride program for displaced children, ensuring they have reliable transportation to and from school.

88. Displaced Kids New Year Party: Organised a festive event for children affected by displacement in 2023, with support from volunteers and local leaders.
89. Commissioned a second resettlement housing for 300 displaced VRA spillage victims for constituents in Mepe. The building is disability friendly and features modern kitchens and TV rooms.
90. Offered free six-months rent to 167 displaced teachers to facilitate their return to the constiuency and resumption of academic work after the spillage disaster.
91. Launched a project to build 10 mosques with water systems in Muslim communities. The first in Dramani Kope has been commissioned.
92. Donated over 200 bicycles to female pupils in Zongo communities to improve access to education.
93. Inaugurated NDC Youth and Women Working Committees and provided a vehicle to aid campaign efforts.
94. Assessed conditions for VRA flood victims and secured housing for seniors, while launching a free rent initiative.
95. Honored Miss Eyra Arnong for her academic achievements and offered her financial and material support for further education.
96. Lunched a GHS100,000 rent support fund for the extremely vulnerable VRA spillage victims still living in tents.
97. Delivered $1.2 million in medical equipment to the new Mepe Health Centre that was constructed by Citi FM foundation and Ghana chamber of mines.
98. Provided motorbikes to NDC Ward Coordinators to bolster the campaign for the 2024 elections.
99. Initiated 5 new CHPS projects.
100. Renovated CHPS facilities in Torgorme and Workpoe.
101. Renovated Podoe Clinic and equipped it.
102. Organized free medical outreaches and surgeries for thousands of constituents.
103. Supplied medical drugs to all health facilities in my beloved constituency.
104. Providing Support for ongoing self-help-community-interventions in all 6 traditional areas.
105. Initiated full renovation of the Klamadoboe basic school
106. Offered full financial support to Battor SHS for qualifying for the NSMQ for the first time.
107. Presented mattresses, chop boxes, food items and other prospectus items to over 1,000 newly admitted SHS students.
108. Donated laptops to final year tertiary students to facilitate their project work.
109. Donated sewing machines and hair dryers to 260 apprentices and trainers.
110. Provided financial support to female traders across markets in my beloved constituency.
111. Presented cash grants to staff of Juapong Textiles to alleviate their plight after government shut down the factory.
112. Constructed a dozen of community sporting facilities to support youth sports.
