Member of Parliament for South Tongu Constituency Honourable Kobena Mensah Woyome makes his first 2023 donation to the South Tongu District Education Office, Sogakope to mark the new year feast.
The Lawmaker made a donation of laptops, stationeries, air conditioner, ceiling fans and laser jet tonner/cartridge to the Education Office, Sogakope on Wednesday, 4th January, 2023 at the premises of the directorate.
The items donated are; three (3) HP laptop, one (1) sigma air conditioner, three (3) jet ceiling fans and three (3) LaserJet Toner.
The Member of Parliament made the donation as part of the requests from the Education Directorate in addressing some pressing issues affecting the smooth and effective running of administrative activities at the education office.
Information picked by Coverghana.com.gh suggests that, the office of the District Education Director has no air conditioner coupled with damaged ceiling fans in other offices. There’s also inadequate supply of laptops and stationeries to support the administrative works of staff at the directorate.
The directorate also complained of leakage of roofs, and appealed to the MP for renovations.
In addressing the situation, the Member of Parliament made a quick response to the directorate’s request by supplying the items to augment the existing facilities.
Speaking at the event, the MP beseeched the directorate to make a case towards the opening and expansion of Sondo Community Day Senior High School and if possible attach a boarding system so as to provide access to quality and equitable education to students in the “hard to reach communities” within the catchment areas as he continues to play his part.
He pledges to continue extending his support towards quality and sustainable delivery of education in South Tongu as a Member of Parliament.
“I am privileged to present these items to you as part of the requests that was made to my office. Because, you have expressed certain needs so that you can function quite well as an office, in the interest of teachers, students and parents which sometimes you do not have the capacity to provide, because of the lack of certain facilities, I want to help you so that you can be able to deliver to all the teachers and other stakeholders you serve.”
According to the MP, the donation is just the beginning of more logistics for the office.
The items were received by the South Tongu District Education Director Celestine S.A Korsi Agordo (Mrs) on behalf of the directorate.
She expressed the directorate’s appreciation to the Member of Parliament for the kind and timely donation.
Celestine S.A Korsi Agordo (Mrs) explained that, when you come to South Tongu District Education Directorate, as far as the educational needs are concerned, they are numerous and uncountable.
She is very much appreciative to Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome for honouring his requests and therefore promised to make good use of them to alleviate some of the challenges they have in the district as far as quality delivery of education is concerned.
She assured the MP that, South Tongu District Education Directorate will not let him down for his continued support in the education sector.
She ceased the opportunity to ask for more support in the education sector.
