How to maintain menstrual hygiene: Staying fresh in your cycle

Staying healthy and fresh during your menstrual days counts and speaks more about a lady in her days.

Menstrual cycle comes with pains and numerous feelings that switch the mood of a lady so it is therefore required to stay hygienic also throughout the days of the period to prevent feeling worsen situation.

Below are some guides to help keep your undergarments hygienic while in your period.

Firstly, rinse off stained blood from the undergarment by using normal room temperature water or tap water. Avoid the use of hot water as it can make the stain set in your undergarment.
Gently rub the fabric with your hands to aid the blood to loosen.

Afterward, pre-wash the undergarment by making a mild soapy water solution in a basin and submerging the undergarment in it.

Gently rub the fabric and allow it to soak in the water for about thirty (30) minutes. This will help to loosen all other blood stains and discharge.

Once you’re done with the pre-wash, use a mild soap to thoroughly wash the panty because harsh detergent can cause irritations on the skin.

Fabric softeners should not be used because they can reduce the absorbency of the garment. Period panties can be washed with other garments provided the stains had been removed already.

Use air to dry panties. Air-dying period panties is the best option as it gets a suitable temperature to prevent the panties from smelling. Preferably, it’s best to dry period panties in the direct sun. Dryers should be avoided as they can destroy the longevity of the garment. The undergarment should be left to completely dry.

It’s important to keep dried period undergarments properly to keep their quality. Period panties should be folded neatly and nicely by stacking them in a storage container or drawer.

The undergarments should not be overcrowded in the storage container as it can cause creases and destroy the elasticity of the garment.
