The President of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made a promise of ending galamsey before leaving office.
The President said this during his regional tour of the Ashanti region on 16th October, 2022.
The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has voiced his stands in alignment to the government’s porous nature in fighting galamsey. Otumfuo said the people who are into the galamsey are the same people who claim they are fighting it.
His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo after hearing this made a vow of putting a stop to small scale mining (galamsey). He made it clear to the Asantehene that, he is in the known of how most Ghanaians are craving for the end of small scale mining in Ghana.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in a prayer said “My prayers are with you as the tour the region in the next few days. I pray that everything ends well for you. I thank you for coming. I pray everything goes well. Ghanaians voted twice for you so I hope you finish what you started and end your term on a good note”.
