Ian Murray is a British politician who has served as Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland since 2020, and previously from 2015 to 2016. As a member of the Labour Party, Ian Murray has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Edinburgh South since 2010.
Murray worked in pensions administration for Royal Blind before being recruited by an Edinburgh-based internet television station (Worldart.com) during the dot-com boom to assist develop a new online TV station.
Despite his efforts, the company ran out of funds, and he was laid off; he then established his own event management company (100 mph Events Ltd). Murray also organized a student exchange program in Nepal to raise funds for school construction and staff.
