I’m not super proud of “Try Me”– Sarkodie speaks on reply to Yvonne Nelson

Ghanaian Rapper, Sarkodie, the BET awards winner has finally responded to the allegations made against him by Yvonne Nelson in her memoir using his musical prowess to convey his feelings through a powerful track titled “Try Me.”

In a recent interview with Angela Yee, the former host of Breakfast Club, Sarkodie revealed his deliberate choice to address the sensitive issue through music rather than the media. He expressed concerns about losing the authenticity and impact of his response if he were to engage in media rounds or press discussions.

“To be very honest, it is a sensitive conversation, and that’s the reason why I did not do any media rounds or press coverage about it because, I might lose the opportunity to present how I truly feel about it,” Sarkodie explained.

The “No Pressure” hitmaker admitted that he isn’t entirely proud of the way he handled the matter, but he emphasized that it was a necessary step for him to release his emotions and express what was on his mind.

He clarified that he has used music in the past to address issues or share his thoughts on various matters. Sarkodie admitted that he dislikes engaging in such confrontations openly, fearing that he might lose his composure. Nevertheless, he believes that it was essential to voice his feelings, even if it meant not being fully satisfied with how he approached it.

Sarkodie expressed disappointment that Yvonne Nelson didn’t reach out to him for a personal conversation about the situation. Instead, she chose to include it in her memoir for the world to read. The rapper believes that private matters should be handled between the involved parties rather than being exposed publicly.

“This is a conversation between two people. We could have had a conversation about it because it involves me as well, but because people know that Sark doesn’t speak, they think they can say something and get away with it. Once in a while, you just have to,” he added.

Sarkodie’s response in the form of “Try Me” reflects the depth of his emotions and determination to address the situation on his own terms. The song serves as a testament to his artistic expression and commitment to staying true to himself amidst the challenges and controversies that come his way.
