Inauguration of MMDAs date rescheduled -Check new date

The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development has rescheduled the inauguration date of all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) who were successfully elected at the 2023 December District Level Elections.
The change of date issued notice dates January 29 2024 and signed by Chief Director of the Ministry, Amin Abdul-Rahaman.
According to the issued notice, the new date for the inauguration of the District Assemblies is Monday, 12th February 2024.
However, the Ministry added that the inauguration arrangements will be communicated in the due course.
Background
On the 22nd of January, 2024, the Ministry issued a statement. From the statement, it was indicated that the inauguration of MMDAs will take place on the 6th of February, 2024.

The said statement directed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Coordinating Directors (MMDCDs) to ensure smooth operations in all MMDAs.
“Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Coordinating Directors (MMDCDs) are, thus, directed to hold the fort and ensure smooth operations in all MMDAs until the new Assembly Members are sworn into office and all Assemblies are duly inaugurated.”
In addition, the Ministry added that “All Regional Ministers are kindly requested to facilitate the successful inauguration of MMDAs in their regions.”

Reference is made to letter number HC 14/286/01 dated 22nd January 2024 on the above subject matter.
