Incorporate Licensure Examination into Colleges of Education Curriculum -Jonathan Dzunu told NTC

The immediate past National President of Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) Mr. Jonathan Dzunu has called for the incorporation of licensure examination into the curriculum of Colleges Education.
Mr. Jonathan Dzunu in an interview has called on the National Teaching Council (NTC) and stakeholders to have a second view of the working policy that bounds how the GTLE should be enrolled before sitting for it.
According to Mr. Dzunu, incorporating the licensure exam into the curriculum of Colleges of Education will be the best way to redeem what the Council is championing because using hours to justify who and how best a prospective teacher can teach sounds unfair.
Mr. Dzunu added that if the GTLE is incorporated into the curriculum of Colleges of Education, teacher trainees can be allowed to write it as a final exam /or test in their final exam before leaving the college system. In that way, the competence of prospective teachers will be much assured.
Speaking on publicizing the exam scripts of the GTLE I re-sitters, he said how NTC acted was unacceptable. He added that displaying those scripts has dented the noble teaching profession hence subjecting the teaching profession to public ridicule.
Further, he delved into the quality of Basic Education in Ghana where he said the government has failed to ensure quality basic education. Their inability to ensure the best basic education has resulted in the poor performance in GTLE.
He charged the government to ensure quality education at the basic level because, in that way, the future is assured.
Delving deep about the foundation of education, he mentioned that, the government of Ghana has scored no mark in providing the needed resources to ensure quality basic education. Belts must fasten to achieve the ultimate for Ghana.
“Who are you deceiving, you don’t care about the quality of the students at the basic level and you claim you want quality teachers through license exams. We must be serious,” Mr. Dzunu quizzed.
